The Everson family story traces its roots through England, Scotland, and Sweden even though some of us settled in America six generations ago. I grew up in Ohio, where woodworking captured my imagination almost as soon as I could hold a tool. By the time I was seven, I had already spent countless hours building alongside my dad and brothers, learning the satisfaction of shaping earth and concrete and timber into something useful and lasting.
In my early teens, my brother John bought a sawmill. Together we began cutting beams from some of the largest oak, cherry, and black walnut logs in northwest Ohio—trees that were likely alive and strong during the American war for independence.
In the autumn of 2018, I purchased lumber from one of our longtime customers and used it to build the workbench pictured above. I told my wife that, barring fire, there’s no reason it shouldn’t endure for the next five centuries.
A year later, in 2019, we moved our family and business to Idaho’s Treasure Valley, a decision we have had reason to be grateful for every day since.
We are currently serving the greater Treasure Valley by designing and building projects for customers. We have worked alongside some of the premier builders in the valley and we have designed, built and finished many of our own projects.
We have eight children and another on the way, we homeschool, we work together whenever possible, and we aim to build with the same long view that guides our family: create beauty that will last, honor those have come before, and leave something better for those who follow.
